Driving Rain fails to pud off runners!
Andrew Ward (right, Clowne AC) and Fiona Davies (Barnsley AC) won the respective trophies in 2011 Percy Pud 10km which took place on Sunday 4th December. The annual race attracted more than 1,500 hardy souls to the Loxley Valley, where they battled high winds and heavy downpours to complete the course along the Loxley Valley, Sheffield.
Some participants got into the festive spirit by donning seasonal outfits such as Santa Claus costumes, with one runner even dressing up as a Christmas pud and two runners ran together in a camels outfit!
Since the first event in 1993, the 10km race has grown in popularity, and traditionally each finisher receives a Christmas pudding to mark their achievement.
Event Organiser for the past decade, Strider Richard Dunk said: “It’s been hard work over the last ten years, with a lot of effort involved in organising each race, but at the same time it’s been really enjoyable and rewarding.”
At the end of the race the runners were kept entertained by the Loxley Silver Band (see below)
